Rob Wilson
Rob trained and qualified as an architect at the University of Cambridge, before taking an MA in Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art. He was the exhibitions curator at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in London between 1999-2010, where he curated a programme including solo presentations of architects such as FAT, Sergison Bates and Mario Botta, and artists working with architecture including Tacita Dean and Anish Kapoor, together with seasons dedicated to Swiss, Polish and South African architecture and touring exhibitions, including Fantasy Architecture (2004-5) with the Hayward Gallery. As a freelance curator he has subsequently been Salonnier for the inaugural Salon Suisse for Pro Helvetia at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale and the curator of Chromazone: colour in architecture at the V&A in 2012-13. The founding editor of the magazine Block – architecture etc. in London in 2010, he was also a founding editor of uncube magazine in Berlin in 2012 and a visiting lecturer between 2010 and 2017 on the MA Culture, Criticism and Curation at Central St. Martins College of Art and Design.
Based in London, Rob has been the architecture editor of The Architects’ Journal since 2017 and is currently on the jury for the Swiss Pavilion in Venice 2020/1 and 2022/3.
